Exterior Painting: Ideal Weather Conditions

typical american house

If you’re planning to change up the paint job of your home’s exterior exterior, it’s best to ensure that this project is completed when the weather is right.  While many people assume that exterior painting is best to complete when the weather is hot, so that the paint dries quickly, that isn’t exactly the case. In fact, the exact opposite tends to happen.

Warm weather can cause fresh paint to become thicker and slightly gooey. As a result, the finished job may look drippy and lumpy, which will not look very appealing. Alternatively, rain makes a huge impact on the job too. Any time spent painting the exterior an hour or so before it starts to rain outside is a complete waste of time. If the home has not had time to dry, everything that was just painted will begin to wash away. This can become incredibly frustrating, especially after hours of painting.

The best painting weather would be a day when it is not extremely hot but not too cold. It would be a day where there may be some wind, but the wind should not be too strong to the point that leaves and dirt are flying all around. If there is a lot of debris in the air, it could end up landing on the fresh paint.  The sun should be shining just enough to help the paint dry a bit quicker and there should be absolutely no rain or snow in the forecast.
When it comes to exterior painting the weather plays a key role in the project’s success or failure. Prior to exterior painting it is important to take the weather into consideration, especially for the home to look its best. As professional painters at J.
